What is 3CX and how to access it

Overview

3CX is an open standard, software-based phone system based on the SIP standard. It works with a range of phone hardware and also features web browser-based extensions and mobile apps. A major advantage is the software itself can be hosted on a remote server, on-premise (on a local server) or both for extra resilience. It is often regarded as a great IP PBX for small and growing businesses due to its cost efficiency and flexibility.

Introduction

The 3CX Web Client is easy to use and combines all the features you need to efficiently communicate, collaborate and connect with colleagues, partners and customers, straight from your browser or from the native Windows and macOS desktop app (at Computerman we recommend the native Windows app). From this one interface, you can easily make calls, view the status of colleagues, hold a video conference, and communicate with customers via voice, live chat, WhatsApp messaging and SMS/MMS.

How to login

3CX Web Client Login options

  1. Go to the “Your User Account on your New 3CX System” email to verify your settings
  2. Click on your web client URL
  3. Log in using the credentials in your email or for easier login select Microsoft.

If you’ve lost your Welcome Email you can have it re-sent via the smartphone app (iOS or Android).

This will give you access to the 3CX Web App and you will be able to start taking calls. If for some reason the 3CX application is not installed on your computer, you can install it using the guide in the next section.

How to install the native Windows App

The Desktop app for Windows and macOS includes all of the features of the web client but provides a more native experience. To download the app:

  1. Click on the Windows or macOS icon at the top of the side menu in the web client.
